Shortlist suitable properties
Use the rental search to narrow options by location, property type, bedrooms, furnishing and rent where those details are provided. Compare the full cost, not just the headline amount. Ask whether rent is quoted per week, month or year and whether any additional charges apply.
What to check at a viewing
Visit the actual property and check the condition of the rooms, doors, windows, water supply, electricity, sanitation, access and nearby transport. Confirm that the listed features match what you see. Do not rely only on edited photos or video calls.
Verify the landlord or agent
Ask who has authority to offer the property, clarify the role of any agent and request written terms identifying the property, the rent, the payment schedule, deposit conditions and responsibilities for repairs or bills. Where anything is unclear, get independent advice before committing.
Avoid rental scams
Do not transfer money just to secure a viewing or because someone claims multiple people are waiting. Be cautious if the advertiser refuses an in-person viewing, asks you to pay a different person without explanation or will not provide clear written terms. Keep receipts and records for any payment you decide to make.
