Before you send money
Treat an unusually low price, urgent pressure or refusal to answer reasonable questions as a reason to slow down. A profile or listing on a marketplace is not a guarantee of identity, ownership or product quality.
- Whenever possible, inspect the item in person before paying.
- Avoid advance payments to an unknown person for delivery, a viewing or a promise to reserve an item.
- For Mobile Money, verify the recipient and amount in your own app or confirmation message. Never tell anyone your PIN or one-time code.
- Keep your chats and proof of payment, and agree the price and collection details clearly.
Choose a safer meeting place
Where an in-person handover is appropriate, choose a public, well-lit location and consider bringing someone you trust. For expensive items, test the main functions before completing the transaction. Do not enter an unfamiliar private location if the arrangement feels unsafe.
Check the advert and the person
Ask for current photos or specific details that help confirm the item exists. Compare the listing with the seller’s answers. For a vehicle, property or regulated service, make additional checks appropriate to that type of transaction.
Spot and report suspicious behaviour
Be cautious of requests to move immediately to a different platform, requests for verification codes, fake payment screenshots or pressure to pay a fee to receive a prize or job. Stop the conversation if something seems wrong. Use Renok’s report tools or contact support with the listing reference and a short description of the issue.
